Bobby Jones Golf Course Area Neighborhoods & Nearby Amenities
Bobby Jones Golf Course opened in 1932 as the first public golf course in Atlanta. It is named after golfing legend Bobby Jones. In 2018, the newly re-designed nine hole golf course opened according to the vision of the Bobby Jones Golf Course Foundation. The course features a brand new practice facility overlooking the course and Piedmont Hospital’s new expansion building in the distance. Located halfway between Buckhead Village (2.8 miles away) and Midtown (3.0 miles away), the neighborhoods near the Bobby Jones Golf Course benefit from the beauty of this man-made green space and have easy access to both of these attractive urban centers.
The area of Buckhead around the Bobby Jones Golf Course and Bitsy Grant Tennis Center contains several beautiful neighborhoods: Collier Hills, Springlake, Wildwood and Memorial Park.

Many of these neighborhoods are connected or in very close proximity to the multi-use trail known as the NW Atlanta Beltline Connector. This scenic 10-foot wide Beltline trail winds through Tanyard Creek Park, connecting it with the Bobby Jones Golf Course. A brand new section of multi-use trail was opened in October 2018, which seemlessly wraps around the outside of the golf course and crosses over Peachtree Creek via a brand new pedestrian bridge, linking several surrounding neighborhoods for the first time ever for pedestrians, runners, pet owners and outdoor enthusiasts. From the bridge, the paved tree-lined trail runs parallel to Woodward Way to the Northside Drive intersection adjacent to Memorial Park. Further connectivity is planned for this paved trail to reach the existing trails around Memorial Park via a potential Northside Drive underpass.
These trails are excellent amenities already, and will become even more attractive in the near future with tree plantings and further trail extensions planned. These paved trails are an integral part of the Atlanta Beltline under design and construction now to connect a 22-mile loop within the City of Atlanta. Utilizing a railway right-of-way for a fully operational railroad will lead the future extension trail southwest past Howell Mill Road near the water treatment plants and on to connect with what will soon be one of the largest public green space areas: Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry. That Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry is currently under construction, and the section of the Beltline which will connect the neighborhoods around Bobby Jones Golf Course with it is currently in the design and engineering phase.
